However keep in mind you may not be able to fix your displayport to hdmi not working problem. I suppose an hdmi to dvi cable would work unless you need the dvi port on the display for something else. Not really what you want in an adapter as the picture disappears once you stop applying pressure. You should not use an adapter to convert displayport to hdmi anywhere in the signal chain other than right at the source.

I eventually figured out that the connection is successful only if a significant amount of pressure is applied to the hdmi displayport connection.
